Installation Instructions
CAUTION
Before
installing AeroPACK, clean all surfaces of the
vehicle which may come in contact with carrier, hooks or webbing. Make
sure bottom of bag is free of debris that could dull or scratch the
vehicle’s finish. We recommend always using AeroPAD to
protect your
vehicle’s finish from dust or road grime. It is
always the case:
attaching anything to the outside of your vehicle requires skill,
judgment and know-how. These instructions are guidelines. You are
responsible for the safe attachment to your vehicle. Testing the
installation before and during your drive.
Packing 101:
AeroPACK
is designed to carry 65-75 lbs. of soft items, not hard, sharp or pointed gear.
For
safety: load heavy, dense gear inside
your vehicle to maintain a low center of gravity.
1) Set Up AeroPACK
| A)
First set up the suspension straps and adjust to fit your vehicle. Take
the nylon straps and lay out on a flat surface. Feed the tension lock
on the straps, loop the J-Hook on to the nylon straps and insert
remaining strap into tension lock. Take remaining nylon strap material
and fold tight, bind extra strap together with strong tape to keep from
flapping or cut off extra. Repeat with all 5 straps. |  |
2) Loading
A)
Unfasten exterior straps and unzip AeroPACK. On a clean area, load soft
cushy gear, (duffle bags, back packs, sleeping bags, pillows, snow
boots, hiking boots, sports balls etc.) MAXIMUM capacity 65-75 lbs. Never
load hard, pointed or sharp objects, e.g. No firewood, coolers, tools
etc. Always load heavy gear inside your vehicle for safety and lower
center of gravity.
B)
Use poly liner
included or heavy bags to water proof gear. Load bag full to maximize
aerodynamic benefit and pull zipper to secure bag. If the bag is hard
to zip, the bag may be over filled. Pull rain flap down snug to Velcro
patches to completely cover zipper. Connect straps to secure
rain
flap. Insert webbing on top of bag into 2 large compression straps and
pull snug. If straps are too long, trim at an angle and melt ends with
a lighter to prevent fraying.
3) INSTALL Aero PAD on
mounting surface (recommended)
| Clean
lift gate or trunk to remove grit. Install AeroPAD between AeroPACK and vehicle surface to provide an extra
layer of protection for your cars finish. |  |
4 A) INSTALL on
Liftgate (Wagon, Hatchback, Minivan, Crossover, Van)
| Lift
AeroPACK by side handles, to liftgate or trunk. AeroPACK logo should be
facing out. Take upper 3 J-Hooks, attach metal J Hooks to top edge of
lift gate or cross rail of roof rack. Attach to metal, never hook to
glass, rubber, plastic or roof rack. Take bottom 2 J Hooks and attach metal J Hooks to side of liftgate. |   |
4 B) INSTALL on Sedan
Trunk
| Lay
down AeroPAD on trunk. Put AeroPACK on top of trunk, with AeroPAD in
place. Take top straps and loop over AeroPACK and attach J Hooks to
lower trunk edge. Take 2 back straps, loop over top of bag
and
attach 2 J Hooks to top edge of trunk. Tighten down straps to hold
AeroPACK in place. Test when on the road and retighten if required. |  |
5) Test Installation
B)
Tighten all 5 J hook straps to take up slack. Test drive and check
straps for secure fit.
Fold up any extra webbing and hold
tight with band or strong tape.
6) Before Your Trip
•
While in use, recheck your installation: Check installation after 30 minutes or 30 miles.
•
There after check installation every 200 miles.
•
Check more frequently on bumpy roads. If load moves, check
IMMEDIATELY.
•
WARNING:
Items falling onto road can cause serious accidents
resulting in bodily injury.
•
Do not use AeroPACK on any vehicle on which it can not be
properly mounted as described in this instruction sheet.
•
Top hooks must be completely hooked over metal edges at
top/ front of trunk lid or rear door—never hook to rain
gutters,
glass, rubber or plastic moldings.
•
Car tail lights and turn signals must remain visible.
•
Drive conservatively, especially over bumps. Never use
off-road.
• Do not use
if any part of the pack or straps are damaged, worn, or missing.

CAUTIONS:
1)
Before installing AeroPACK, clean all surfaces of the vehicle

pads etc are free of debris that could scratch the vehicle finish.
Clean all contact points periodically when using the carrier for
prolonged periods of time. Dust and grime may dull or scratch vehicle
finish, use AeroPAD to protect vehicle finish.
2)
Read and follow instructions carefully. Save installation
guide for future reference or replacement parts.
3)
Never place more than 65-75 lbs of soft sided gear in AeroPACK.
No
sharp or pointed objects should be loaded in AeroPACK. Secure the bag
properly and adjust for uneven load distribution.
4)
Do not overload AeroPACK or your vehicle.
5)
Do not mount to a roof.
6)
No part of the carrier (straps or hooks) should come in
contact with a plastic spoiler.
7) This
carrier is not designed for off road use or for speeds exceeding 65 mph.
8)
Remove carrier from vehicle when not in use.
9)
When cleaning AeroPACK use water and mild water based soap.
Do
not take it through a car wash or use petroleum, chlorine, ammonia or
alcohol based cleaners.
10)
Rear window wipers may not be usable while carrier is
attached to vehicle.
11)
It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the
use of
this product meets all state and local laws.
12)
Secure all strap ends to avoid flapping in the wind and
impacting the car
NOTE:
All AeroPACK products have been designed to be as weather resistant as
possible. With super tough water proof pvc-coated polyester, taped seams,
storm flaps and a poly liner to keep your gear dry. AeroPACK mounts behind
your vehicle out of the wind stream. AeroPACK uses water resistant
materials and construction. No one can guarantee 100% water proofness.

& DISCLAIMER:
The
carrier has been designed to fit behind your car out of the wind
stream, to hold soft items (sleeping bags, duffel bags, sport balls,
shoes etc,) NOT sharp or pointed items, such as fire wood, ice chests,
tools. Recommended maximum weight is 65-75 lbs.
Before
installation, user must read and follow instructions. Fit
recommendations are based on standard vehicle features; optional
features may affect the fit recommendation for sedans, crossovers,
wagons or SUVs. User must attach carrier correctly and securely to the
vehicle, check the attachment before and during each use, and inspect
carrier parts for wear. AeroPACK attachment to the vehicle is critical
and beyond the control of the manufacturer, agents or retailers. It is
the end user’s sole responsibility to install / load the bag
securely on the vehicle. Manufacturer and seller expressly disclaim any
all liability for personal injury, property, vehicle damage or loss,
whether direct, indirect or incidental, resulting from the incorrect
attachment, improper use, inadequate maintenance or neglect of this
carrier.
WARRANTY:
The AeroPACK company (AeroPACK)
warrants that you AeroPACK product will be free from defects in
materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of purchase. This
warranty only extends to the original consumer buyer. The warranty does
not apply to parts that have worn out though normal use or been damaged
through misuse, abuse, neglect, accident or unauthorized modifications.
ANY
IMPLIED WARRANTIES WHICH THE BUYER MAY HAVE ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO
THE TIME THAT THE ORIGINAL CONSUMER BUYER OWNS THE PRODUCT.
Some
states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts.
So the above limitations may not apply to you. At its option, AeroPACK
will repair or replace or refund the purchase price of any AeroPACK
product which is defective or fails to conform with this warranty under
normal use and service. To obtain service under this warranty, return

Return Authorization Number.
Repair
or replacement of a defective AeroPACK product or refund of the
purchase price, shall be the sole remedy of the buyer under this
warranty and in no event shall AeroPACK be liable for incidental or
consequential damages, losses or expenses. Some states do not allow the
exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the
above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives
you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which may
vary from state to state.
